Mary earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Welfare from the Ohio Dominican University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a Supervision designation through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Mary also is a Certified Trauma Practitioner through the TLC Institute (National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children) and also holds a School Social Work License through the Ohio Department of Education.

Mary has over 30 years training early childhood, elementary and secondary education staff in the areas of identifying, reporting and preventing child abuse and neglect. She is currently employed as the Survivor of Crime Advocate/Counselor in the Counseling Services Center at Ohio Wesleyan University. Her rich experience in the Social Work field includes serving families affected by child abuse and domestic violence through former work in child protective services, domestic violence shelter services and school social work services. She also has extensive experience in establishing programs to meet identified community needs and has developed and managed numerous early childhood and after school programs.

As a consultant, Mary has led many project initiatives to benefit the early childhood education and care community. She served as co-developer and coordinator of a community collaboration curriculum project entitled “Keeping Children Safe” a Child Abuse and Neglect Identification, Reporting and Prevention Curriculum through Action For Children. Mary has also written similar curriculum for the state of Ohio Job and Family Services Home Care provider handbook.

As an experienced professional development trainer, Mary has conducted hundreds of workshops in child abuse and neglect identification, reporting and prevention early and middle childhood development throughout the state of Ohio.

Mary counsels victims of child abuse and domestic violence in a private practice located in Westerville, Ohio.
